Design & Skill Development Workshop

Over the years, traditional crafts have become rather repetitive and have a limited appeal. Although, artisans have a strong urge to carve their own market niche, the major constraints in their development are lack of new design inputs, poor exposure to market demand and ineffective infrastructure at the grass root level.

The challenge now is to produce new designs that retain the essence of the craft, preserve the traditional skills, and are yet trendy and suited to urban lifestyles.

INTACH, through its existing infrastructure provides design input, skill up gradation and marketing support for the new designs developed during the workshop.

The purpose of the workshop, amongst others is to ADD VALUE TO THE EXISTING PRODUCTS, and CREATE NEW ONES, within the limitations of the age old craft – by INTRODUCING NEW CONCEPTS, and make commercial products and working on CONTEMPORARY SHAPES while retaining the traditional essence of the craft.
